Easter fun

We have had an eventful Easter Holiday. Saturday morning our ward had an Easter party at a playground at a local elementary school. We played games like sack races and relay races with eggs and spoons. The kids also did the bunny hop. It was pretty funny. Then they let the kids find Easter eggs. Both girls had so much fun.

Last night we dyed eggs. Hailey was a little sad when I told her we were going to dye eggs. She thought I meant "die". She did a lot better this year, she didn't drop the eggs so hard in the cups. Her hands were still multi-colored this morning though.

This evening we went to some friends house for dinner. After dinner we played a game called "crack the egg" where we each held eggs and then hit them together. If your egg cracked then you're out and we continued on until only one person was left. (I happened to win that game). Then we had a marshmallow and cascarones (confetti filled eggs) fight.

Fire balls

Our brother-in-law sent Mark a link to You tube where it shows you how to make fire balls. I was not very happy with him for doing that because of course Mark thought it was the coolest thing and he couldn't wait to try it out. So against my wishes Mark made a couple fire balls. It wasn't quite as dangerous as I thought, but I still don't think it's the brightest idea either. Notice that I made Mark do it over the sink, just in case he caught on fire:)

What moms do

Yesterday when Hailey was getting dressed she told me she wants to be a mom like me. I asked her what mommies do and she said, "take care of people, help us be careful so we don't get hit by cars or taken by bad people and play basketball." I guess that sums it up. (I haven't played basketball is years, but daddy plays every Saturday)

Raining Mud

On Tuesday night (March 18th) we had a mud storm. It was literally raining mud. Instead of water droplets there was mud droplets falling from the clouds. The rain here in San Antonio mixed with the dust from a dust storm coming up from Mexico resulting in a mud storm. Everything was covered in mud. Ours cars look like we went mud bogging. It was one of the strangest things I've every seen. It later rained (normal rain) and washed some of the mud off the cars so I didn't get a picture, but here is a picture from one of the local news stations.

Going Green

On St. Patrick's Day we had our little family tradition of a green meal. Everything we ate and drank was green: milk, apple juice, apple sauce, chicken with gravy and potatoes and a green salad. It looks...well disgusting, but it was fun. Hailey kept asking what each item was and then covering her eyes as she took a bite.

Zoo

On Wednesday we went to the San Antonio Zoo. Both girls were so excited to see all the animals. Audrey especially like the birds and elephants. Audrey kept trying to climb the fences or walls. All she really wanted to do was touch all the animals. I don't think she understands that rinos aren't very cuddly. Hailey was just so excited she really wanted to see the bats for some reason. She also wanted to see the giraffes...but we couldn't find them. Next time we will have to ask someone.

New Words

Audrey is learning new words everyday. I've tried to get her on video talking, but it usually doesn't work out very well. So I decided just to make a list:

• duck (she got a new book from Aunt Holly for her birthday that had a picture of a duck and she said it once)

Audrey also tries to sing I am a child of God. She has the tune down and the signs for "lead me, guide me" It's pretty funny, anytime she hears it, at home, in primary or sacrament meeting she just can't help herself but sing.
