2 weeks old

I can't believe Spencer is 2 weeks old today. It's hard to remember life without him. I wish I could get a picture of him smiling. It's so cute.

First bath

Spencer's umbilical cord fell off a little early during the night of the 23rd-24th. I don't think it was quite ready, but when I changed his diaper during the night it was gone. So we finally got to give Spencer a real bath. I don't know how much he enjoyed it, but the girls thought it was pretty fun.

Playing in the rain

We wanted to go for a walk after dinner, but after only a block it began to rain and by the time we got home it had begun to pour. Once it let up a bit the girls floated paper boats down the road and then they road their bikes through the puddles. They had so much fun. I wish it would rain more often.

Once Audrey saw the umbrella all she could think about was holding it. She didn't care about riding her bike anymore.

At the end of the storm there was a full rainbow in the sky.

Spencer is one week old today. We decided to get out of the house and drive up the mountain for a little picnic.

Father's Day

I wish we could have done more for Mark this father's day. He did get a few presents to open. The girls wrapped them as I feed Spencer. We tried to make him breakfast, but he had a 7:00 meeting and Spencer and I had a rough night. So I mixed up the batter and Mark made the crepes.

After church we went on a drive to Bonita Creek. The drive out isn't that pretty, but the area around the creek is beautiful.

5 days old

Today we took Spencer for his first check-up. He is doing really well. He weighs 9 lbs 12 oz. I took a few pictures of him because the ones I posted before weren't very good. I wish I could capture his real cuteness, but I'm not very good at taking pictures especially with the camera we have. Spencer has one dimple on his left check when he smiles, but I didn't get a picture of it. I'll keep trying. It is fun to have a little baby again. I wouldn't mind a little more sleep, but he's worth it.

Spencer Thomas Smith

Spencer Thomas Smith arrived safely on June 16 after a quick induction. He weighed 9 pounds 6 ounces and was 21 inches long. He has a little light brownish hair (more in back than in the front). He is a calm baby so far and his sister adore him. They would hold and kiss him all day if we let them. We are all doing well and we are so grateful to finally have Spencer here safe and sound.

D day

Well I guess tomorrow is the day. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow morning at 8:15. Last week Dr. Harrison offered to brake my water, but I decided to wait until this week. So unless the Dr. is extremely busy and doesn't want to brake my water, I should have this baby tomorrow. I'm nervous about everything. I wasn't this nervous when I had Hailey or Audrey. This time I know what to expect :) I hope everything goes well and quickly, but not too quickly that I don't get to have an epidural.

Mii?

Yesterday we got our new Wii to replace the one that was stolen last October. I got it all hooked up and the girls and I started making our Miis. We even made one for Spencer. The girls pretty much just wanted to make a small version of Mark, but I convinced them to go with dark brown hair. I told them we could always change the hair color later. When it came time to make my Mii, Hailey said, "make it a little taller and fatter." Nice. Obviously I have some work to do once this baby comes out. Too much sugar and junk and not enough exercise-not a good combination.

38 weeks

Some people wanted to see how big my belly is. Unfortunately I also have to show how puffy my face is.

Thanks Hailey for taking this picture :)

First of all I am very happy to announce that my feet are about 1/2 as swollen as they were yesterday. When I woke up this morning I thought maybe it was because Mark rubbed them last night, but then talking to my sister Lindsay I found out that some doctors recommend eating watermelon when your feet are swollen. It just so happens that watermelon is a natural diuretic and I happened to eat a whole bunch yesterday. I wish someone would have told me that sooner!! I feel like a new person.

I had another appointment today. I am now dilated to a 5. My doctor was kind of shocked I made it this far (I wasn't). I asked him when I should go to the hospital. At first he said when the contractions are painful. Then he asked how fast my labors were and when I told him he said I should come in when my contractions are regular (which is multiple times during the day) and he wouldn't send me home. He would brake my water.

Mark and I might go to the temple Thursday night so I'm hoping to go into labor maybe Friday. Mark's mom is in a class Mon-Thursday of this week and next so it would just be a good time. Who knows I might just make it to next week. I've been having less contractions now that I'm off bedrest. :)

You look swoll...

One time in collage a good friend of ours looked at my legs and said "You look swoll" I kindly explained that my ankles weren't swollen -I have kankles. It doesn't matter how much weight I loose I will forever have kankles. Unfortunately I am now retaining lots of water and not only do I have kankles, but I have swollen kankles. (not to mention swollen feet and shins). I seriously look like I have either elephantiasis or I'm a 80 year old lady with right-sided heart failure. One word... GROSS! Mark thinks it's fun to press into my foot or ankle or leg and see how long the indention last. It's called pitting edema and it's disgusting.

Here's some proof. Don't mind the blinding white legs or the just ran through a bag of flour look. That's what 3 1/2 weeks of not going outside and not being able to bend over will do to you.
