My first Triathlon

Yes I actually entered a triathlon (what was I thinking?!?!) and I finished it. I didn't set any records or anything, but I did better than I thought. I never stopped during the 11.1 mile bike ride and I never stopped jogging during the 2 mile run. (my jog was barely over a walk, but hey it's still jogging right?) The swim was definitely the hardest thing for me. The 300 meter swim was the first event and to put it nicely I looked like a drowning monkey. It is a lot harder to swim in open water than it is in a pool. Plus never sticking my head in the water made it a little more difficult to swim fast. I am just not a swimmer. I don't have good form and I hate getting water in my ears. At least I wasn't the last one from my heat out of the lake.

Never in my life did I ever think I would enter a triathlon. Two months ago some of my friends said that they had entered and they convinced me to sign up. I figured that if I signed up I would motivated to workout. I haven't really exercised in about 4 years and 2 months isn't really enough time to train for a triathlon. As you can see from the pictures I'm not in triathlon shape, but it did get me exercising again and I'm grateful for that.

I was so completely out of my comfort zone. I never thought I would be caught dead in spandex let alone wearing them for all the world to see. Well I am glad I did it and I am glad it is over. For the last 2 months I felt like I had a test coming up that I hadn't studied enough for.

I'm so grateful for my family, Mark and the girls got up early to go with me. I loved to see them cheering me on. It really made a difference knowing they were there. I know it wasn't easy for them standing around waiting for me to finish, but I really appreciate their support. I'm also really grateful for my friends, Mandi, Erika and Megan they helped calm my pre-race jitters and I never would have done it if they hadn't done it with me.

I did it....Audrey's first Haircut

Well I did it, I finally cut Audrey's hair. I've wanted to for awhile, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. So during her bath tonight I just decided to do it. It took me 4 times of putting the scissors up to her hair before I actually cut it and then once I cut it I almost starting crying. I cut a little more off then I meant to. It was a lot harder than I thought both emotionally and physically (I was trying to take pictures, hold her still and cut the hair). I don't know if I am happy about the cut. She looks cute, but it just doesn't look like Audrey. I cut off all her dark baby hair so now her hair looks so much blonder.

Teething

Well Audrey is getting tooth number 6. She has her 2 bottom teeth, the 2 top teeth, one tooth on the side of her top teeth and then a molar in the back. Weird! I kept checking to see if her 4th front tooth was coming in, but nope a molar instead.

Wlid Flower Farm

Texas is big on its wild flowers. When the area's gotten enough water during the winter, the wild flowers flourish in the spring. Last year there were so many beautiful blue bonnets. I wanted to take pictures of the girls in the flowers, but Audrey was little and I wasn't motivated enough to do it. Unfortunately we didn't get enough rain and so there aren't near as many wild flower this year. So when my parents were here we drove up to Fredericksburg and just out side of Fredericksburg there is a Wild Flower Farm . We some pictures by the flowers. You have to pay $5 a person to walk through the meadows so we just looked from afar.

Log Ride

Seaworld San Antonio

On Firday April 4th we went to Seaworld with my parents. We were worried that it might be busy because lots of people were in town for the NCAA final four, but it wasn't at all. I guess Seaworld is for a younger crowd:) It was a perfect day...a little cool in the morning and then it heated up in the afternoon. We got to see all the shows including the Shamu show. We rode a few rides and saw lots of sea creatures. Hailey Mark and Dad rode the log ride. It has some pretty big dips and drops, but Hailey did good. She didn't do quite as well at the 4D pirate movie. Both girls got scared when the air or water would blow in their faces.

Spotlighted

A few Sundays ago Hailey was "spotlighted in Primary" a member of the Primary presidency reads some clues about a person and then we try to guess who is being spotlighted. Some of the clues were these:
Favorite food to eat- "Pizza"
least favorite- "baby food"
favortie Temple- "San Antonio"
Why I like primary- because "it's fun"
How I know Jesus loves me- "because he loves me when I'm praying"
Favorite thing to do outside- "Swing and Slide"

She was so excited she go a huge pair of "spotlighted glasses". It was fun.
